The first impression is clearly a set-up of this future world, when humans colonize Mars. The question is: will this fascinating two planet world make for an engrossing read, or will it fall flat? It's tough to tell from the first twenty pages, but I would be willing to give it a try...but not based on the cover. It's generic and uninteresting.
