From the very first line, we are immediately pulled in to a complex world unlike any we've ever seen before. I appreciate we are given some history of the initial explorations of Mars rather than being asked as readers to extend our creative muscles. And even though it's fantastical (living on Mars!) the way the author has imagined humans getting to that point - in a capitalist, big-business, conflict-ridden way - is immensely believable. I need to read more!
