Thanks to BookishFirst and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

First off I’d like to say that Housman did a fantastic job portraying an autistic character, letting the reader see and feel what Seelie is going through and experiencing, all of it. Her note at the end is right- we don’t have enough of these characters and we do need more of them.

Points for world building, great characters, action, and magic. I also love seeing Seelie and Isolde’s relationship, how it changes and grows throughout their journey.

The dialogue and pace kind of reminded me of the middle grade genre, which was refreshing to me. It made any romance not come on too strong which was nice for a change and more YA books could take a lesson in that.

All in all, 4.5 stars rounded up. I would definitely read this again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys magic, action, and going through portals into other realms!
