I was very intrigued by the book's premise but the story didn't quite reach the mark for me. The characters were interesting but they didn't hook me into the narrative and I found a lot of their actions to be repetitive and sometimes frustrating at times. It had great fantasy elements but wasn't executed in a way that felt "fantastic". I was very excited to see a main character with autism and thought those elements were handled well and respectfully. I did feel like the characters were created and described in a strong way and were, by far, they best part of this book. The were well written and developed and felt like they were real descriptions of real people. I also appreciated the sisterly bond present and woven throughout the novel.
I received an ARC from the publisher and am leaving this review voluntarily, as all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
