Unseelie follows the story of a changeling named Iselia or Seelie and her twin sister Isolde. The two of them have ran away from home to protect their parents and find themselves the opportunity of a lifetime; finding hidden treasure, guided to them by a magical compass.

To be honest, the plot is not the most intriguing and it's very predictable, but it's not bad. A good and easy fantasy read to be honest. My only peeve with it was the pacing. The story is very slow, and while it's nice to have a lot of details, I just feel like it didn't do much in terms of developing the plot or even the characters. The ending wasn't bad though, and I felt like it was a much better pace and more exciting.

Also, while we're still talking about world building. I find myself a bit miffed at it. I feel like, as a person who doesn't read a lot of faerie/magic realm fantasy stories, a lot of details and world building was left out. I think the assumption was that you had some kind of prior knowledge because faerie themed stories are popular nowadays, but it really did not work well for my understanding.

I really did like the setting though. Very much magical realism with a hint of steam punk and nature coming together. All in all, I'd give this a 3/5⭐️
