The title- UNSEELIE- was intriguing; I found myself wondering is it one person’s name or a type of people, those who can un-see things and maybe make them un-happen? So between the title and an appealing cover design, I was interested in reading this book. Quickly, a reader learns that Seelie is “the faerie realm of good intentions,” but then the reader wonders why bonfires are needed to ward off evil from, the Unseelie Court. This is a fantasy world where faeries evidently claim one mortal at a time, but changelings are often wandering around and passing for Mortal. The first-person narrator is Iselia, a seventeen-year-old twin to sister Isolde. And they are out on this wildest of holiday nights, headed over to the wealthy area, Gilt Row, to steal and pick pockets. Along the way they run into a wolf demonstrates her shapeshifter genealogy a couple of times as they watch. Then while inside a residence, they encounter a dragon. Alas, despite the sisters mentioning danger and despite references to ghosts, dragons, and magic, there just was not enough suspense to really hold my interest.
