Unmasked: My Life Solving America’s Cold Case Files by Paul Holes (with Robin Gaby Fisher) was a totally engrossing and completely unputdownable book. This is a must read for any fan of true crime books, documentaries and/or podcasts!
Paul Holes is the detective who found the identity of the Golden State Killer, but this book is so much more than that one case. It’s a memoir of his career, the ups and downs of his family life and his obsession with solving many other cold cases as well.
If you have read and enjoyed I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara then this book will make a great companion to that story. Paul and Michelle worked together trying to solve the mystery of the Golden State Killer’s identity – right up until Michelle’s untimely death.
