I'm not a huge non-fiction reader so this book was a little out of my comfort zone to begin with.

I thought the storytelling was all over the place. I think the author was trying too hard to make this book into both a memoir and a true crime novel - but the memoir was lacking (this book ended up being mainly about the East Area Rapist (aka Golden State Killer) case). He writes that his career had essentially ruined his relationships with his (ex) wife and kids but doesn't appear to really care or want to do anything to heal that rift. I think the personal stories didn't help this book since they were so surface level.

It was interesting hearing everything about the Golden State Killer and how much time and effort it took for him to finally be apprehended. I think I was expecting more on other cases though. He briefly mentions the Laci Peterson case and then we never hear about it again.

Overall a quick and interesting read but wasn't something I was racing to finish.
