I finally got around to reading this masterpiece and I was not disappointed whatsoever. I got into true crime at a young age; it isn't just the crimes themselves that interest me, but also the ones who solve said crimes. The case of The Golden State Killer had always fascinated me because of I'll Be Gone in the Dark, but to hear it from Paul's mouth is fascinating. Paul's dedication and passion are one for the ages. Without people like him, the victim's families would never have got closure.

There are other cases discussed in the book including Laci Peterson and all are discussed with care despite the heartbreaking nature of the crimes.

We also get a glimpse into Paul's personal life and how his work has affected his family. He's self-aware of how obsessed he gets with his cases, but I'd rather have an obsessed detective than an obsessed killer on the loose.

I highly recommend this book.
