Absolutely Loved The Combination of Memoir and True Crime!

First and foremost I would be doing ya'll a disservice if I did not mention this one is NOT for the faint of heart. There are brutal descriptions of violent crimes, many involving children. Having said that, it's probably not a surprise to any of you that I LOVED this book.
Paul Holes is a certified bad ass who has dedicated his life to solving cold cases. The most famous of which being the Golden State Killer. Unmasked is part true crime book and part memoir, and it very much worked for me.
I really enjoyed learning about what Holes experienced as a criminologist and reading about not only some high profile cases (Laci Peterson, GSK) but also the life path that got him to where he is today. I cannot imagine seeing the horrible things he saw day after day, but it helps readers to understand why he is so committed to bringing families closure.
Also, absolutely cannot wait to dig deeper into the Emmon Bodfish case... utterly fascinating.
