Unmasked by Paul Holes caught my attention, foremost, because it was written by Paul Holes. I guess I didn't put too much thought into the fact that this was going to be mostly a memoir, and not so much about the Golden State Killer - although obviously he has spent a lot of his life on the trail of the Golden State Killer. I was really interested in learning more about the case from his perspective. Luckily, I did!
The man's got a mind for crime solving, I can't argue that, but sheesh, he is really just an average Joe underneath it all. Like I said before, I realized going in that this was going to be a memoir, but I guess I expected more? A more interesting Paul Holes? I don't know. I would absolutely want Paul Holes on the case of my untimely death, or that of a loved one, but I don't think I'd want the guy to be my dad.

All in all, Unmasked was a look into the life of Paul Holes, and that's about it. I don't think he should drop everything and focus on a writing career.
