What a profound story! This is one of the best mysteries that I have read just because I love historical fiction. When a coffin is found on a construction site, it unleashes a mystery of unimaginable proportions. It turns out that the murder dates back to 20 years ago in London. As readers, it feels like we are watching an episode of Law and Order before our eyes as we are enthralled in meticulous police procedures and are faced with the prospect of dealing with a convoluted justice system.

As detective Jane Tennison is dealing with solving the case, she digs deeper into the convent and its history, unfolding the true horrors that took place in the home for orphans. As she uncovers the child abuse scandals, she realizes that the convent had destroyed and left no trace of the records pertaining to them. At the end of the novel, the author provides the readers with the website where they can access the true stories behind the case.
