I didn't know what to expect because I had never read a book before by Lynda La Plante but it was a pretty good novel. It's book number seven in the Tennison series but I didn't feel that I needed to read the other ones to enjoy this one (it can be read as a stand alone which is fantastic).
The novel is about a detective named Jane Tennison who gets put on a case about a dead nun who is found at a construction site. It is set about 40 years ago so it's somewhat historical fiction, which I personally enjoy. Throughout the novel as they are figuring out the case I felt that there was pretty good character development and that there was also a lot of suspense which is a lot of fun. I didn't have a hard time predicting anything but that doesn't really mean much.
Overall I would say that if you like detective esque books with strong female leads you should take the chance to pick this one up. It's really cool seeing a woman as a detective especially in a British setting. So if this is your kinda thing take the chance!
