When a casket is found at a construction site near a closed convent, DS Jane Tennison is assigned to check it out. Along with DC Boon, they find that it contains the body of an unidentified nun and the medical examiner sees signs that the young woman was murdered. As they investigate this cold case, they begin to find suspects which include the original people from the convent, a priest from the nearby church and the owners of the property under construction. In the meantime Jane begins to have strong feelings for someone who maybe involved in her case and a young woman reporter is doing her own investigating into who the woman was and how she died.
An interesting case that delves into Catholic Church policies and also politics within the police department.
