Summary (not mine):
Under the Naga Tail sheds light on the suffering of the Cambodian people under the Khmer Rouge and in their attempts to escape the country. Mae Bunseng Taing and his family endure removal from their homes, labor camps, starvation, and mistreatment and abandonment as unwanted refugees.

Thoughts:
I didn’t know much about the Cambodian genocide until I saw this book listed. I read the overview of it and immediately knew I had to get it. I read it within two days of getting it! I loved the dynamic between Mae and his father, it really encapsulated the love they had for each other. Seeing the genocide from this point of view really sheds a whole new light on the situation. It really helped me understand the horrors and violence that went along with it. I always enjoy reading memoirs because of this. I hope this book becomes more popular as time goes on, because I would love to talk to people about it
