I can’t imagine the strength Mae needed to get out of this horrible situation. To leave your home is a tragedy, but to be forced to live in an area surrounded by land mines, how do you find the strength to go on? How do you get out and start again? This time in Cambodia’s history is awful, but I think we can learn from first accounts of the people who were able to live through it and rebuild their lives.
