This one was just not for me. I read about a quarter of it, but I just found myself never really feeling the urge to pick it up. There were some interesting points made and it I liked reading about what the workplace is like for people of color. When the author gave the example of his coworkers always being late, but he was late one time for a legitimate reason outside of his control, yet he was the one reprimanded. Oh boy. I was so pissed on his behalf. And this was just one example of many. In that sense, I felt it was very eye opening and I felt like it was a good learning tool for me as a Caucasian reader.
I would recommend this book to other readers because I do feel like this is a it was me and not the book problem. I think that readers can take away a lot from this book. Maybe down the line I’ll try to pick it up again, but for now it’s just not really happening.
