This book opened my eyes to the types of challenges faced by people of color in the corporate world. I'm not oblivious to the fact that we have a long way to go in the fight against racism in and out of the workplace. As part of a minority group, I have also dealt with my own challenges. The fact that this book made me aware of the extra hurdles black people need to be aware of in order to succeed is a testament to my own privilege. The book instructs readers on topics such as how to create a personal brand that navigates away from negative stereotypes. How to network, gain mentors and allies that will support you in your path. Although geared towards black individuals, I think the advice in this book is pertinent to anyone who wishes to have a inclusive diverse workforce. As well as becoming part of the change most of us want to see in the workforce.
