TRUE TRUE takes on the overlapping challenges of contrasting Black and White Cultures from a young Black man's perspective.

As Gil tries to negotiate and balance the conflicting demands and joys of friendship and family, that he faces - and erects within himself - life sets him on a seemingly endless roller coaster of racial prejudice, hatred, and betrayals.

The high school he had hoped would open opportunities for his robotic coding skills and high energy turns out to be a place where he is beaten and shunned by all but a few other students. The bonds he forms with them to create an alternative school system open to students of all races, colors, and backgrounds is overwhelming in itself and because it takes him from his family, his dojo, and his original friends.
Even Sun Tzu's ART OF WAR lets him down.

The plot falters only when Gil again leaves his Grandmother alone. Once was plenty when she almost burned the building down. Twice felt false, notably because favorite main character Gramna missed the incredible celebration of her life that she deserved.
