Interesting and thrilling but missing something for me

This book follows a police officer named Natalie as she investigates a series on crimes. Coming from a line of police officers herself, the reader knows she is great for the job and we are drawn into what makes her tick. I didn't feel as if I connected with her much. I felt the character study was a bit vague and lacking. The book is fast paced and action packed, but the descriptions of characters and their inner voices just weren't there for me. This is the first in a series, but I don't think I will be reading on because I just didn't really care for the main character. I would recommend this book to those who like police procedural mysteries, but it was lacking the "un-put-down-able" factor for me.
