Natalie is the new detective in Burning Fire, New York, and like most people, she is dealing with her own personal issues. Her sister Willow was murdered twenty years ago, a loss that neither she nor her sister Grace has ever truly overcome. Her relationship with her boyfriend Zach has just ended. When she meets with her detective friends at the local bar, she volunteers to take Brandon home since he is drunk. Unfortunately, when they arrive to the totally dark house, they discover the body of Brandon’s pregnant wife Daisy. There are lots of characters introduced in the first view, and I really want to know more about each of them. Natalie is haunted by the death of her sister and at the end of the first view, she is trying to work a new murder scene. The setting of Burning Fire seems perfect for this murder mystery, a small town in New York known for its witches and covens and for once executing three supposed witches. The colors described draw you into visualizing the scenes, right up to the bloody murder scene in the kitchen. What a great, enticing read that really makes me want to read ALL of it!
