Together We Rot by Skyla Arndt opens with Wil Greene getting berated by the sheriff for stalking - which she was doing to work on her mom's missing person case. She suspects her former best friend, Elwood's, family has something to do with her mom's disappearance.

Elwood's blood and satanic rituals are mentioned in the synopsis, and the cover itself definitely gives off a YA horror vibe. I was pleasantly surprised by how readable the book's prose it. (Perhaps, as someone who doesn't ever read horror, I had poor expectations going in.) Seems this one should be a hit with fans of the genre.
