Great premise, but lacking
This was a really interesting and nice fantasy that I wanted to love far more than I actually did. It had an extremely promising premise, but unfortunately the execution just fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed the storyline and the major plot events were compelling and added a lot to the story, but the characters themselves didn't feel all that fleshed out and seemed to be lacking some character.
There was something about this story that felt lacking overall, as if it were rushed in some points and rushed in others that didn't make sense--the pacing just felt a bit uneven.
Outside of the issues, I do still think this story had a lot of potential and I think this author could continue to improve and continue writing some really great stories. I look forward to reading more from them in the future.
