Enjoyable visit to ancient Ireland
I enjoyed TO THE WATERS AND THE WILD by S.C. McGrath. Escaping into the world of ancient Ireland with characters, Keelin and Brian, was a welcome escape from the modern world.
Especially fun and fulfilling was the developing love story between Keelin and Brian, set against the threat of a Roman invasion of Ireland.
It would have been helpful to have a map and perhaps a glossary of (I assume from Gaelic) terms that the characters used. I was confused about the difference between Tara and Eire. This might be something Ms. McGrath might add in a further edition or even on a website the reader might be referred to in the book.
I also would've liked a bit more explanation of the historical research for the book.
I did enjoy the surprising ending and the set-up for this surprise worked for me, allowing me that necessary "suspension of disbelief" while in the story.
