Did not finish. I tried with this one, but I was so very bored. Nothing interesting happened at all. Too much descriptive content of things I don’t need to know. Bland characters that give strange (and extremely long) monologues.
It’s a great concept, but it really fell flat unfortunately. I liked the idea of blending actual history with magic, but it was ruined by the things I mentioned above- mostly bland writing.
As bland as the characters were, what I did see as far as the romantic relationship wasn’t as bad as others. There was actually a tiny bit of interest and chemistry between them.
Bottom line, the best portion of the book was what Bookish First had as a first look. The rest was terrible.
