Not Sure Where The Author Is Leading The Main Character

This first glance into To the Waters and the Wild gives readers a good view of the setting, but I really did not get a sense as to where the book is going. Keelin feels underestimated, especially considering her station in their community. Her dreams give her a sense that something may be changing in her future, but will Keelin realize her potential? I really liked the cover art, but I am just not sure if this is a novel that I would like. I would pick up the book at the library, but I would not purchase it on the strength of my first impression.
