Merida, Moana-esque Heroine in a Fantastical Historical Fiction

I like this premise of a historical fiction that almost feels like a fantasy. It is a little fantasy, isn't it, wrapped up in a historical fiction bow. The dialogue felt clunky at times, and the Merida, Moana-esque character of a daughter of a leader searching for freedom is a little over done, but it still seems an interesting read.
