Interesting promise of adventure with a gorgeous cover

This book seems interesting from first glance. Although it is not the type of story I would be interested in, the cover captures the eye and the synopsis seems intriguing. The aspects I didn't like were the "a novel" on the cover and the naming of so many characters in the synopsis. Having so many mentioned makes it a lot to introduce in a short blurb. But the synopsis does promote interest and seems to promise adventure and magic.
