Stars for "To Sleep in a Sea of Stars"
In his latest book, Paolini moves from mythical dragons to the mysterious frontier of space. While many such novels immediately plunge the reader into a deluge of aliens and crashing spacecrafts, Paolini allows the reader to take-in his world by focusing on the protagonist, Kira. At first glance, Kira seems ordinary for such an extraordinary setting; she is grappling between her adventurous job which moves her from planet to planet with her new desire for stability in the form of a new husband anda home planet, but by the end of the third chapter, it is evident that Kira won't be settling down anytime soon. In a show of originality, Paolini's novel moves away from the typical alien monster verses human trope that pervades sci-fi. Instead, the story tends towards the anthropological as Kira finds evidence of a new life form that quickly engulfs her. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars promises to be captivating and a fresh take on the sci-fi novel!
