Interesting, but very long

Even though the writing of this book is strong with an interesting and premise and set in an outer-space world that is complex and imaginative, the story turned out to be very, very long. At times it felt like it dragged and it was hard for me to sustain my engagement. So, this is a case where perhaps more editing to improve pacing would have helped an otherwise interesting fantasy keep its momentum. Or perhaps it is not meant to be just one book. Or, perhaps, this is a case in which I would have enjoyed a movie based on this book because the plot really does lend itself to a good science fiction film, without the dragged out reading. I recommend A Sea of Stars if you love science fiction and don't mind going into a very lengthy tome. The best format for this would probably be a hard copy. I listened to the audio, but again, it was very long!

I received an AudioARC in exchange for an honest review.
