I first read Paolini back in 2007, when I read ππ³π’π¨π°π― along with a 2nd grader while I was student teaching. I loved it and read the entire fantasy series as the remaining books released. I was super intrigued that the last of that series published in 2011 and it was 9 years until he released a new book.β£

ππ° πππ¦π¦π± ππ― π’ ππ¦π’ π°π§ ππ΅π’π³π΄ is straight up sci-fi and at 32 hours of listening (900+ pages), it was an expedition. Soooo many characters. I had a really hard time keeping track of everyone during the first part of the book. β£

It had these Ridley Scott type moments mixed with a lot of slow plotlines and insanely drawn out details. I would've enjoyed this much more had it been about half the size/length. Paolini is undoubtedly a fantastic world builder but this was just too long.β£
