This book was a huge departure from Paolini’s other books, but you still get the world-building and in-depth characters you know and love. There is even a space pig!

I thought the development of the alien species was refreshing, instead of regurgitating the same humanoid aliens that seem to infiltrate most science fiction, Paolini develops creatures and cultures that feel... well... alien.

I ultimately gave 4 out of 5 stars because of some slow pacing in the middle. It did feel like the book was longer than it needed to be and that some scenes were repetitive. That being said, I do recommend this book to anyone who is a genre fan. Paolini is a talented storyteller and a master of imaginative fiction.
