So overall it was an interesting story and I would read it again at some point. I like Kira and the members of the Walfish, especially Gregorovich. In some respects Gregorovich reminded me of Aiden from Illuminae. My biggest problem is that it felt too long. There are bursts of action where lots of interesting things happen but there are longer sections where it seems like nothing really happens. There is a lot of world building maybe to the detriment of the character building and plot building. I would have loved to learn more about the Soft Blade and the Vanished. I do know Poalini plans to write more in this world so I hope that we learn more about them at that point. I feel like this book falls into hard science fiction, which isn’t generally my thing, but I feel like anyone who does enjoy this type of science fiction should enjoy this book.
