This book was a HUGE DNF for me. I only made it a little ways in before I finally gave up because I just simply could not focus on the story. I felt left behind and like I was missing something right off the bat. I have seen this sentiment echoed in other reviews as well. It seems that there are about 3 opinions on this book: 1) did not get very far before giving up, 2) absolutely loved it, or 3) rated it before reading it because the are a fan of the author. I am kind of glad I didn't invest more time into trying to read it because I have also heard that it gets very tedious and boring about half way through. It is also quite a massive universe with MANY characters, aliens, and worlds. If you like overarching sci-fi books with a lot of words, this may be for you. This is a lengthy read at around 900 pages. Some times I promise to go back later and give it another try but this one is straight into the no pile.
