Set in the future in the expanse of space, the main character Kira is just an ordinary scientist constantly on away missions, trying to find her place in the universe. On an away mission, she discovers something mysterious and dangerous and spends the rest of the story trying to to understand her discovery and herself. This is a beautiful and unfolding story that takes you to the outskirts of space to discover new worlds. This is a large book but I found it engaging. The group of characters is a rough and tumble set of friends that are closer than family, so they were very likable and relatable. Kira’s character goes through so much growth and change throughout the story, following her journey was exciting. I loved the symbolism and the raw details that unfolded throughout the story, gave me an appreciating of the authors many hours of research that went into the book. Just a beautiful story!
