Paolini’s TSiaSoS follows Kira, our main character, as she tries to understand her new life after stumbling upon an alien relic that completely turns her world around. The book takes us through Kira’s adventure through the stars and she grapples with the war that has broken out.

Yes, this is a lengthy book, but Paolini’s amazing writing never makes it feel long or dragged out. What I love about him as a writer from reading his fantasy books shines through in this sci-fi novel—his well placed puns, amazing character development, and general genius as a storyteller.

It was so much fun, personally, to read a sci-fi novel since I don’t often read that genre. Paolini made sure to keep things as realistic as possible when it came to space travel, weapons, and how things in space impact the human body, making this read that much more interesting.

I’d say my favorite part, like most Paolini books, was the cast of characters. Although a close second were the themes of a positive future for the human race, peace amongst different groups, species, races, and the ingenuity of the human brain throughout the book. You really feel a sense of positivity and possibility when reading this book—like we, as humans, are capable of so much, and so much good at that.
