One of the Most Hyped Sci-fi's I've Seen

While the Eragon books were out when I was in grade school, I never really felt intrigued to pick them up. Now the author is coming out with an intense sci-fi space novel, and the finished copy might be over 500 pages? Typically thats too much for my taste but I'm intrigued. The synopsis does not give you much info, and the first look left off on a bit of a cliffhanger, but nevertheless I'm interested enough to give this book a chance. I'm sure sci-fi fans are going to go NUTS over this book when it comes out.
