Boring at first then became more exciting

I really like the cover of this book and it really drew me to read the excerpt on this site. I found the beginning to be a bit dull and something about the writing at some points and all the mushy stuff between Kira and Alan seemed to drag on and on. To be fair I am not a big romance fan so it probably wouldn't bother other people as much. At some points, the writing style bothered me but it was fairly decent. What really hooked me was when Kira was exploring the planet and fell into the alien place. When I read that I thought to myself this book might be a good read after all. I got really excited once it got to that point and I wish that part had come sooner in the book. I really want to keep reading to find out what happens to Kira.
