Tiffany Blues has a little romance for the romantics, a little mystery for the sleuths, and a little art history for the aesthetics. It is pleasingly set in the time of the earlier days of the Tiffany firm when it stood for innovative, fine craftsmanship before the current innovation of a coveted blue box containing silver trinkets stamped with the message “Return To Tiffany & Co.” The book was entertaining. My two quarrels with it are in the choice of words. The first, the what felt like occasional use of too contemporary words for the time. Examples- champers for champagne (real housewives, anybody?) and funk to describe mood (Edith Wharton would not approve). The second the continually repeated “sipping” of tea, coffee, cocktails, and champagne was a phrase that came up often enough for me to notice and be bothered. Nitpicking aside, I was overall entertained.
