This book has such a great setting with Louis Comfort Tiffany's famous Laurelton Hall, and the elite and artistic sets that met there. With the real setting and some fictional characters and their stories added to the mix, you have a big, frothy story suitable for a good beach or vacation read.

And I thought it was neat that an artist like Paul Cadmus really was there in 1924--he's one of the greatest artists of America in the 20th century!

You have a really nostalgic feel here, with a character looking back on the world that made her, and the scandalous behavior she witnessed.

I can't quite picture Coco Chanel being quite so in the mind of the educated American public in 1924, but I guess I don't know everything!
