The setting mostly is in 1924 when artist were appreciated but were very poor as artist are today. Talent some, Some just trying to eek out a living. But in the beginning of the book it starts in 1957 with the house/ mansion that the artist live in has burned to the ground. Burned for days if not more and all you hear is your name Jenny. Now back to the artist imagine living in New York City were you are stuggling to pay your bills and are offered a place to live that is much cheaper and less hassle. Artist that are enjoying there work painting in vibrant colors on canvas. Image that central park is one great place to paint.
