I had a really hard time rating this book. The entire time reading this I was so confused. I finished the book but I can't tell you what happened because I didn't understand anything. Even the person who picked it for my book club didn't finish it because she found it confusing, but this genre isn't in her comfort zone either. I did get a lot of the premise explained to me by the one person in my book club who actually understood the book, and that gave me more clarity for it.
That being said, I didn't hate the book. I understand and can recognize that it was not the books fault that I couldn't understand it, but science fiction is not something I'm used to reading and a lot of the concepts go over my head. Again, that's not the books fault. I liked the writing and the voice of the authors. I liked the dynamic of the characters and how their relationship grew throughout the book. I loved how short it was, because I probably wouldn't have been able to finish it otherwise. But, I just didn't understand it. So I decided that a 2.5 rating is fair, because I can't possibly give it higher when I didn't know what was going on, but the writing deserves some recognition.
