This book will wreck you and you will be grateful for every bruise. It's a novella-length exchange of letters between two opposing agents in the time war. It is KILLING EVE if it were poetry; it's ROMEO AND JULIET but smart and queer. If you don't find yourself reading passages out loud to your love, overwhelmed by the privilege of sharing the same strand of time with them, I'll eat my metaphorical hat.
In fact, my husband and I have been writing one another daily love letters since we read it. In the book the letters are written into the rings of trees and the bellies of seals, carried in pollen and tea leaves, but ours are ordinary sort--paper notes tucked behind the coffeemaker or between the pages of paperbacks.
