This book was a wonderful surprise. Gladstone and el-Mohtar both use intriguing and beautiful prose to tell the story of two competing time spies. The authors’ styles work well together, and the epistolary format of the book provides a natural transition between their two authorial voices.

I loved the playful antagonism between the two spies, Red and Blue. It was fun watching their relationship develop through the letters as the story progressed. The dynamics of the time war were complex without being baffling to the reader. I appreciated how small changes made by Red and Blue were designed to affect events decades later.

I loved the nuances in both the writing and the plot and would recommend How to Lose the Time War to any fan of literary Science Fiction.
