Really engaging and engrossing excerpt, though it wasn't long enough to form a full opinion. The main character remains ambiguous, and it's unclear what we're supposed to be reading here. However, the writing is clearly very good, and definitely catches and keeps your attention. The world that is being set up sounds very interesting and readable. I liked that while there was violence, it was not overly gratuitous so far. The description of the world Red is in is vivid. Currently, the narrative as written is confusing, though I expect that to be solved when we get further on in the book. Really, the main issue is that the expert was not long enough to really get a feel for the rest of the book, so there is little to go on here.
