This sample is so short that I don't feel like I've gotten much of an idea of what to expect from the book—especially since this first chapter felt a bit like a prologue (which I don't love). But I'm very intrigued, especially in light of what I know from reading the premise, and the imagery is striking enough so far that I'd be excited to continue the book just for that. And the title—wow, what a title. Gosh, I really want this book to be good. Please let this book be good.
