I had been eyeing this one for a while. I love a good prep school mystery. Unfortunately, this one fell pretty flat for me.

Synopsis: In this story “the players” is the group of cool kids that everyone envies and wants to be. To become “A Player,” you have to be tapped, and then go through a period of hazing. Freshman year, a girl died during this process. It is senior year now, and the accused murder claims he has proof that he did not murder the girl.

First off, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that says one phrase so many times. The Players this, the Players that... The idea of this group was also over-done in my opinion. It was obvious that this was the popular group of kids in school, but every second it felt like I was reading over and over about how “cool” they are. I didn’t connect to any characters, and guessed the ending pretty early on. I will say, after about 100 pages, I got more into it and liked certain parts.
