A YA contemporary with a thrilling mystery suspense plot, I’ll take one please. The cover for They Wish They Were Us caught my eye. I immediately knew something bloody was happening in a clique-y private school. The first look kept me though. It sort of gives off this Gossip Girl mixed with Pretty Little Liars vibe. Like the main characters friend died, and now her friend group all sort of still lives in the shadow of her death. But of course her death wasn’t exactly as it seems. Plus mysterious text messages, yeah. Screams PLL to me, but I’m intrigued because you can tell this author has created her own unique and well written world past those base layers. I’m excited to go on this journey with the characters we’ve been introduced to so far.
