This excerpt laid out the foundation for the characters we'll be around, and I gotta say, I wasn't impressed. They are your typical cliched high school group, with the addition of having wealthy parents to make them ooze extra annoyance. There were a lot of cringy moments, like the really awkward-but-we're-trying-to-be-cute foot thing, and it was just a lot of unrealistic moments to me. I didn't connect with any character, definitely not with our MC, who is very one dimensional. Also, with how cliche everything else is so far, I feel like I already know who "did it" and who our red herrings are. The cover is gorgeous and got me interested, so did the premise, but after reading this excerpt I really do not think I'd purchase this book, but I do wanna know if I'm correct about the culprit, so I may borrow it from the library.
