They'll Never Catch Us shows us two girls who seem vastly different on the outside, but, as we learn throughout the story and the alternating points of view, are the same at their core. I loved the characters and seeing that there was more to them. For me, Stella was one of my favorites and seeing her growth and development throughout the story made it enjoyable to know that she wasn't just this one thing.
I also loved how there was a discussion throughout the book on how female athletes are seen in a negative light compared to their male counterparts. In particular, their aggressiveness to win or be the best is emphasized throughout the story is seen as dangerous because their girls and 'girls don't act that way'. It's at the heart of this story and I loved how gender discrimination is on display in the story and how it affects the characters in all these different ways.
